Rugby Club Fundraiser

A major fundraiser for the 2016 rugby season was the Timaru Boys’ High School Rugby Club’s extremely successful Charity Auction on 1 April in Hogben Hall.

Prominent Old Boys' shot put sensation Tom Walsh, Scotland rugby representative Brendan Laney and 1974 Commonwealth Games gold medallist Dick Tayler - were guest speakers for the evening and delighted the 200 attendees with their responses during the question and answer session. With just over $20,000 raised, Timaru Boys’ were thrilled with the support from our community who donated numerous prizes including weekend stays in Wanaka, flights at Mt Cook, signed rugby jerseys, pamper packs, and many other prizes. The substantial amount raised will benefit all boys who are playing rugby this year. Thanks must go to Gavin Miller for his organisation of the evening, to The Sail and Mac Shaw Menswear who sold tickets for the event and to all sponsors of the evening who donated the wonderful selection of prizes.
