Timaru Boys’ High School had a very successful South Island Secondary Schools regatta held in Twizel 3-4 March. Our boys earned their places in 6x B finals and 10x A finals.
The hard training over the season and committed team work led to the following squads winning medals.
Boys under 17 single sculls Kallum Puttick B final placed 2nd
Boys under 15 double sculls Josh Wilson/Hamish Yeatman A final placed 3rd
Boys under 18 novice double skulls Jack Blakemore & Ben Bartlett A final placed 3rd
Boys under 17 double skulls Neil Paver and Kallum Puttick B final placed 1st
Boys under 15 coxed 8: Luke Goodger, Billy McCully, Ben Bartlett, Ben Bampton, David Edh, Robbie Adams, Will Taylor, Harry Blakemore A final placed 3rd
Boys under 18 novice coxed quadruple sculls: Billy McCully, Jack Blakemore, Robbie Adams, David Edh and Tom Scott A final placed 2nd
Boys under 15 coxed octuple sculls: Josh Wilson, Will Davidson, David Edh, Hamish Yeatman, Ben Bampton, Robbie Adams, Fletcher Joyce, Will Taylor A final placed 3rd
Congratulations to these medal winners and to all the boys and their committed coaches for an exciting season. Aon Maadi Cup 2018 is now underway and our squad are looking strong and well prepared for the hardest competition on the rowing calendar – over 2000 students compete at Maadi and our boys compete with the best of them.
