Season's Greetings

From Peter Stayt, Board of Trustees Chairperson

It is fair to say 2020 has been a very interesting and challenging year for everyone at Timaru Boys’ High School. We commenced the year welcoming our new Rector Mr Dave Thorp into the school and just a few weeks after this, the school was closed due to the national COVID-19 lockdown.

The COVID-19 situation has been a challenge for everyone, not least our students as they learned to cope with disruptions to learning, sports and cultural activities. It is a credit to these young men that they have handled this situation so well.

The Rector, Senior Leadership Team, HODs and teaching staff did a tremendous job working through the everchanging requirements this year and are to be commended for their commitment to ensuring our boys' learning was paramount at all times. The swift and competent move to online curriculum delivery is testament to the professionalism of our teaching and support staff.

Although 2020 will long be remembered as a very turbulent year, at TBHS it will be remembered as a year that members of the school community worked together to overcome great challenges, while still delivering quality education, sporting and cultural results for our pupils.

As we end the year, the Board of Trustees would like to thank everyone for their efforts, patience and flexibility this year. We would especially like to acknowledge the professional leadership of the Rector and his team.

On behalf of the Board, I wish everyone in our school community a very Merry Christmas and safe holiday break as we enter 2021.

Pete Stayt
Chairman
Board of Trustees
