Agricultural Science Field Trip

By TBHS | Posted: Saturday September 24, 2016

On 12-13 September, thirteen Agricultural Science students went away to the Pareora River to carry out an investigation looking at the effect of agriculture on biodiversity and water quality.

This is part of a Level 3 internal Achievement Standard. During the trip they looked at invertebrate samples, PH levels, conductivity levels, nitrate and phosphate levels, and water clarity at different sites. They had guest speakers from Timaru District Council, farmers from different parts of the river and a water quality scientist from ECAN, that came and helped them to gain a better understanding of their results.

The class would like to especially thank Debbie Eddington from ECAN who came along and helped the boys with their sampling.
