Through the joint efforts of a number of agencies, along with Aoraki Development and especially with the drive from TBHS Careers department and Opihi College, a highly successful Careers Expo was held in Temuka.
With tertiary-educated people making up 55 per cent of new trades apprentices in New Zealand last year, organisers of the Employment Expo hoped that bringing high schoolers together with employers will help them make better decisions earlier.
Held at Temuka's Alpine Energy Stadium, the inaugural Year 11 Employment Expo kicked off at 8:45am with four hour-and-a-half-long sessions running throughout the day to accommodate more than 600 year 11 students from nine South Canterbury schools.
