Scholarships

There are four externally funded university scholarships available for Timaru Boys’ High School students. Applications are due in August each year. 

Admiral Sir Gordon Tait University Scholarship

Established in 2008 in memory of Admiral Sir Gordon Tait (TBHS 1935 to 1947), this scholarship is awarded to one student from Timaru Boys' High School and has a maximum tenure of three years at the University of Canterbury. It is awarded for all-round excellence and financial need taking into consideration:  academic achievement; leadership potential; sport, cultural and community activities; and financial need. Alan & Melvyn Burnet Charitable Trust Scholarship

The Charitable Trust of Dr Alan Burnet offers scholarships to the value of $2,000 for a Year 13 student from each of Timaru Girls' and Timaru Boys' High Schools. The funding will be provided to the successful applicant when confirmation of acceptance of chosen study has been received. Application forms are available from the school offices.

 

Jim Wakefield Scholarship

This University of Canterbury scholarship has a value of $5,000 per year ($15,000 over three years). Selection is on the basis of academic achievement, personal qualities, financial circumstances and the candidate must have spent 3 or more years at Timaru Boys' High School. Applications online at https://tinyurl.com/UC-Scholarships

Mark Parker Cricket Scholarship

One term at Winchester College, England. 

Thomas House Scholarship
