Welcome to Social Sciences at Timaru Boys’ High School. At our school every student studies Social Studies in Year 9 and 10 and then Geography or History are an option that the boys might choose in the senior school.
In the Social Sciences we engage the boys in real topics that are relevant to their lives, community and country. We aim for the boys to develop empathy and to constantly re-evaluate their own positions on current day issues, from both New Zealand and overseas.
As this is one of the few subjects that spans both literacy and numeracy skills we target the skills of writing as well as mapping and data analysis.
